« Dany Cage : L’histoire d’une émancipation » est une doc-fiction réalisée par François Baldassare qui retrace la naissance, la vie et la disparition d’un club de rock psychédélique au Luxembourg à la fin des années 1960: Le Dany Cage, dans la rue Beaumont, en plein centre viulle de Luxembourg. Ce lieu légendaire n’a existé que de 1969 à 1972, mais il a marqué durablement ses contemporains. C’était l’époque de la guerre du Vietnam, du Summer of Love, de Mai 68 et de Woodstock : la jeunesse aspirait à plus de liberté.

Ce film-témoignage, construit à partir d’une série d’entretiens avec 18 témoins de l’époque, ainsi que d’archives et de reconstitutions fictives, montre comment la musique a joué un rôle décisif dans ce processus d’émancipation.

« Dany Cage: A Story About Emancipation » is a docu-fiction directed by François Baldassare that traces the birth, life and disappearance of a psychedelic rock club in Luxembourg in the late 1960s: Dany Cage on Beaumont Street, in the heart of Luxembourg city centre. This legendary venue existed only from 1969 to 1972, but it left a lasting impression on its contemporaries. It was the time of the Vietnam War, the Summer of Love, May 68 and Woodstock: young people yearned for more freedom.

This testimonial film, built from a series of interviews with 18 witnesses from the time, as well as archives and fictional reconstructions, shows how music played a decisive role in this emancipation process. Produced by Canopée Produktion asbl, with support from Film Fund Luxembourg (Carte Blanche), the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture, the municipality of Beaufort and the Flying Dutchman.
